Whale Watching Adventure
Bay of Fundy, New Brunswick, Canada Today was what I can only describe as a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We went out, knowing there were a lot of whales being seen lately, and we were not disappointed. A ‘perfect storm’ of a beautiful, warm, sunny day and an incoming tide brought whales all around us. At times, [...]
Aidan rubbing elbows with Senators (political ones!)
During our summer vacation to Ontario, we visited Parliament Hill in Ottawa, to see where all the decisions are made and the politicians act like schoolchildren. Aidan was playing around and taking pictures with his camera, when this guy came and started talking to him. He gave me his card and told Aidan if he [...]
Teaching more intro to digital camera courses this Fall
Got asked to teach a few more ‘intro to digital camera’ courses as part of the Continuing Education program at the College this Fall. I taught a few last year for the first time, some were successful, some not so much. I learned a lot about the needs of the local market. There are lots [...]

Nice Canada Day Shot of the kids

My new toy! A Canon 50D Digital SLR
OK, so I bought it a few weeks ago, but I just realized I haven’t shared (gloated?) the good news yet. Anyway, I picked up the Canon 50D digital SLR. This thing shoots like a dream, has a huge LCD screen on the back, and has some nice extra features. Here’s a picture: From the [...]
Chris’ Rules of Camera Shopping – The Point & Shoot Version!
I put this together for a friend at work and decided to post it as a general guide for anyone who might want to read. The information is all gathered from personal experience. It was written to help alleviate some of the stress induced by all the spin and ad rhetoric, but it is by [...]
Save our CBC Radio Rally – Online Photo Gallery
Been playing around with Aperture, iPhoto, and iWeb for a few hours since the poker game broke up tonight. Just finished using Apple’s iLife’09 iWeb software to create a quick site/photo album I put together with some of my images. Not too bad to use, although you are stuck with the set templates, not very [...]
